Photo by: Gift Habeshaw (unsplash) Written by Georgetta Head Do you have difficulty making decisions? This is an action that is very difficult for many to make! I can relate because it is very challenging! I've been there many times until I learned key principles from the Bible that taught me how to control my emotions when making decisions.
As a single parent years ago, I learned the devastation of bad choices with my finances. Not seeking Father God first caused me several years of unwanted credit card debt. Plus, I learned experientially, our decisions, good or bad, have consequences! Decision-making has to do with a gift God gives to each of us called "free-will" or "volition." This is the ability to think and act with maturity and wisdom for ourselves and when necessary for our immediate family. Making decisions can be difficult at times because our emotions get involved, which influences us in the direction to take. Because our emotions tend to be fickle, one day we are happy, the next day sad or angry. When our emotions are on an up and down spiral, it would be wise not to make any decisions. Instead, we should table any decision-making until we can manage our emotional ups and downs. Tips for wise decision-making is found in two powerful verses. Proverbs 16:3 "Commit thy works unto the LORD, And thy thoughts shall be established." Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. • The wisest decision one can make when making deisions is to seek God's advice first. • Don't allow negative thinking to influence your decision-making. With negative thinking, we will produce emotions that will produce negative actions. • Finally, don't allow anxiety to pressure you into making decisions you will regret. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." When we put our trust in Father God and wait on Him, He will direct our steps for good. Most importantly, His peace will guard our hearts and minds, which will guide us with prosperous choices. During my coaching career, I’ve had many people tell me that they didn’t think God would love them because of the sins they have committed. Armed with this untruth in their minds, they drifted into a life of shame and guilt. Romans 5:8 reveals a different story. Let’s study this scripture for the truth. The word “commendeth” in this verse is an interesting word that means: to commit; entrust; make acceptable; proves; or demonstrates. Using the definition of “proves” for “commendeth,” the phrase now reads: “But God proves His love toward us…” Have you ever been in a position in which you had to prove your love or actions to someone? Well, this is exactly what Father God did for us. He loving His creation, He proved it to us by sending His only Son, Jesus, to die for us while we were still sinners! Now that’s love! Would you prove your love for someone by dying for them? To what extent will you go to prove your love? God didn’t wait for us to be rid of our sins! He knew we would never be able to resolve our sin problem. So, He proves His love toward us with the answer for our sin problem, Jesus! While we were deep in our sins, He died on a cross taking all our sins on Himself, becoming our scape goat, forgiving us for every sin we ever committed. Jesus became our “propitiation” for the sins of the world (Hebrews 2:17). Thank God for the finished work of what Jesus did on the Cross, otherwise all would be eternally loss. So, now I ask, “what sin will God not forgive anyone for?” God says we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But, friends, please know that all who come to God for salvation through Jesus, are freely justified by God’s “grace” (unmerited favor) through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. The next time you or anyone you know, begin to believe God can never forgive any sin committed, know that is satan lying to you and doesn’t want you to know the truth of God’s “grace.” Remember, you are “greatly loved.” Journey With The King Join our YouTube Channel - Join our Facebook Group Written by Georgetta Head Photo by Aaron Burden (unsplash) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)
Father God gives us a beautiful reminder through this scripture that no matter what we go through in life He is always with us. I learned this to be true a year ago when faced with a serious medical problem. After hearing the bad news, fear set in; then thoughts of dying were next. When I was just about to cross the threshold of my front door to go to the hospital, I heard a “still small” voice saying, “will you trust me!” That was Father God comforting me and letting me know He will be with me through this difficult time. I am here today writing this devotion to encourage anyone going through a medical problem, financial problem, problems with your children, or any tough situation to know that Father God is right there with you. Trust Him to gently guide and direct your steps with the answer for your problems or for the healing you need. Father God is not a partial God, what He did for others He will do for you. Don’t look at your circumstances, look to God, He has what we need, HOPE and GUIDANCE! Facts:

Why? Because, as I go through this journey in this world, it’s very easy to forget who sustains me along the way. We all have faults, make bad decisions, do things that cause people to be offended or become offended ourselves. The thing that we must keep in mnid is the fact that we all came from Adam (Genesis 1-3). Adam was created with a free will to make his own decisions as the first man on earth. As a result of his bad decisions, we all became a part of his sinful nature along with faults. My statement does not mean it’s one of a judgmental state, nor does it justify sin, it’s only to point out the fact that we are all born in sin because of the fall and disobedience of Adam, and the fault came along as a package deal. We all have a lot to be thankful for, the fact that Jesus came to our rescue and took our place in order to keep us from eternal damnation (separated from God in hell forever). These facts should cause us to walk humbly with our attitude on low volume, judgmental spirits, self-righteous actions toward each other. We all carry the label “born with faults and sins.” Romans 3:22-12 tells that: “even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” There have been ministers of Christ who have, with faults, fail in the pulpit many years ago, repented and been restored with God’s anointing, yet some say “I will not hear them preach anymore.” We must be very careful lest we walk in unforgiveness. If God has forgiven them and restored them, who are we to hold it over their head? We might as well shut our Bibles and not read about Abraham, David, Paul, or Peter, along with others who sinned and had faults. The justification and restoration of one who has failed is up to God and is a heart matter from each individual. God examines our heart and what’s in our heart we can’t hide from Him. God is the righteous judge (Psalm 139:1-24). We all need our spiritual heart checkup by God and leave the rest to God, faults and all. I love the song written by Dottie Rambo titled: “He Looked Beyond My Faults” read some of the lyrics below: Amazing grace shall always be my song of praise For it was Grace that brought my liberty I’ll never know just why He came to love me so He looked beyond my faults and saw all my needs I shall forever lift my eyes to calvary To view the Cross where Jesus died for me And how marvelous the Grace that caught my falling soul He looked beyond my faults and saw all needs This song tells all our story about “faults” because “God loves us so much that He looks past what we have done and forgives us when we come with a sincere heart.”

(Ephesians 3:14-19 KJV)
The scriptures above were written by Apostle Paul. It was his prayer that all Believers would comprehend the understanding of the great “love” God has for them. He knew the love of God and wanted other Believers to be empowered in their hearts and minds with this great love, just as he was the recipient of this love. The words: to comprehend the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge; says it all. Paul is saying God’s love is immeasurable. We can’t put a price tag on His love and we can’t measure it! These scriptures inform us that God’s love is not depended upon His feelings, He loves us unconditionally. God doesn’t ask us to perform for His love, it is a gift given freely. Fact:
By faith, as we allow these four facts to dwell within our hearts and minds, then we will learn to love ourselves and others as God loves us. Remember God doesn’t allow His feelings or performance on our part to decide whether He will love us, He loves us because He is LOVE; God is the Author of LOVE. A love that delights in being in relationship with each of His children. A love that protects and provides for His children. A love that does no harm to His children. A love that never dies! The world's definition of love is totally different than God's free gift of love. The world loves according to feelings and performance. The world's love is conditional. Which will you choose, the worlds love or God's love? Friends, by faith allow God’s love to heal you areas that cause you to doubt His love. Once healed you will learn to love self and others. God’s kingdom is love, so let us learn to live a lifestyle of love with self and others, for LOVE is the greatest Gift. “Journey With The King” Photo by: Aaron Burden (unsplash) I am my neighbor’s Bible

Our minds process our emotions, feelings, past hurts, offences, and pain. That's why God says in Romans 12:2 our minds need renewed; and in 2 Corinthians 10:5-7 we are to cast down all thoughts and imaginations that exalts itself above God.
So, what does it mean to renew our minds and to cast down all negative thinking? It means we are to see and understand life and this world through the eyes of God's Word. The Word of God is alive and active and has the power to transform our minds and to restore our wounded souls. The Word of God also has the power to inspire individuals to change their way of negative thinking by understanding the truth of God's Word; and seeing the world and life as it really is - a FALLEN STATE. A state in which people hurt one another. Allowing God's Word to transform us, we learn that love and forgiveness is the cure for our lives when we have been offended or hurt. Listed below are 10 steps for renewing our minds and for restoring our souls. 1. Pray without ceasing. 2. Study the Word of God daily. 3. Don't allow your thoughts to control you - cast them down. 4. When negative thinking occurs, destroy them with the truth of God's Word. 5. Take responsibility over your past and use God's Word to restore your soul. Your past is not who you are! 6. Using the Word of God, write declaration sentences to speak to yourself; this will destroy negative thinking. 7. Make it a habit to think on good thoughts (Philippians 4:8). 8. Learn who you are in Christ Jesus. 9. Trust God's Word to renew your mind and to restore your soul. 10. Forgive your offenders. Learn to love yourself! Renewing your mind is an action done by you; it's your choice! So, I encourage you to apply the 10-steps above which will renew and transform your mind and restore your soul as you apply them in your life. And, that is what happened to Leah, she was fighting for acceptance and love from her husband Jacob. Leah was the oldest daughter of Laban and sister to Rachel, and as we just read she was married to Jacob.
The Bible tells us, in Genesis 29:16-32, that Rachel was beautiful to look upon and well favored, and Leah was tender eyed. Jacob fell in love with Rachel and requested her in marriage, saying to Laban, her father, he would work for him seven years to marry Rachel. On the wedding night, Laban tricked Jacob and had Leah wear a wedding veil to cover her face, and sent her into Jacob pretending she was Rachel. The next morning when Jacob discovered the trickery, he was horrified. He had to work another seven years for Rachel. The Bible tells us that Leah was hated (v. 31). From what we read in scripture Leah and Rachel had constant tension and disagreements over who would have Jacob’s attention. And, as you probably guessed, Rachel was the beloved and received Jacob’s acceptance and love. Can you imagine being in a relationship without love and never having the validation of acceptance? Are you looking for someone to love you? Well, that was Leah’s life. Void of love and acceptance! In Verses 31 & 32 we read “And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren. 32And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.” God looked upon Leah’s affliction and blessed Leah with a family - four sons eventually. But, Rachel remained childless. God saw how unloved and unaccepted she was, so He comforted her. Leah accepts God’s love as a positive force in her life and so can we. God wants to heal the brokenhearted and those with a downcast spirit. If you are looking for love and acceptance, stop looking for man’s approval and acceptance, receive the unconditional love God has to offer. He tells us in Psalm 27:10 “when my mother and father forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” Through God’s constant and eternal love we can find the strength to survive our lowest moments. Too often we look for love in people and things or bad habits, but people and things or bad habits can never satisfy our longing for happiness. Our happiness can never be found in others—our true happiness comes from Father God only! Through Leah, Father God wants us to know that His love never dies for us and when we reach out to him, He will never forsake us. He will comfort us and give us the love, assurance, and comfort we need. Embrace Him today, allow Him to fill the longing in your soul. Allow Him to comfort you with His presence, joy and peace. “Sing Praises Unto The King” Join our YouTube Channel Join our Facebook Group Photo by: Artem Beliaikn Written by: Georgetta Head "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17)
Does God love me is a question many ponder in their hearts. I too pondered this question in my heart years ago. I was saved for 11 years before I believed and trusted in my heart that God loved me. Because of this question there are many who will not make the decision to be saved. Plus, there many in the Body of Christ struggling in their relationship with Father God, not understanding God's love for them. "Does God love me!" YES! God loves everyone, whether saved or unsaved. This is a good question, because the person asking it, really wants God's love. The reason most have problems believing God loves them is due to sin in their lives and they are walking in condemnation. Or, something tragic happened in their life and they blame God for their pain. The Bible from Genesis to Revelation is a "love story" of God’s love for mankind. But unfortunately, there is a demonic enemy, named Satan, who walks among us. He is very good at causing evil in our lives so that we blame God, which causes us to doubt God's love. John 3:16-17 is the greatest example and demonstration of God's love for mankind. The question we need to ask is "why did God have to sacrifice His only Son for the world?" The answer: The Fall: sin entered the world by one man - Adam. He sinned by disobeying God's commandment to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adam's sin brought death and separation from God. God not taken by surprise, announced His plan in Genesis 3:15 to redeem mankind back to Him. His plan - to send His only begotten Son to die for the sins of mankind. God's Rescue Plan: From Genesis chapter 12 to 25 we read beautiful stories of God unveiling His plan of redemption through a man named Abraham. This is love! God established a covenant with Himself to make Abraham a father of many nations, Jews and Gentiles. This is love! God through, the nation of Israel, setup a sacrificial system revealing a picturesque view and symbolic demonstration of the coming Savior who would shed His blood for the world (John 3:16). This is love! By sending His only begotten Son to die for the world, this was a great demonstrate of love to a lost and dying world held in bondage by satan Does God love us! Yes! We Were Chosen: Ephesians 1:4-5 says "we were chosen by God and adopted as His children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will." This means God knew before we were formed in our mother's womb the condition of our hearts, and that we would believe John 3:16-17 and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Our Father: Romans 7:15 and Galatians 4:6 reads that we are God's children and we are to call Him Father. As our Father, God reveals to us that He has committed to perform the "Father role" in our lives through provision, protection, love and relationship. Relationship: in a relationship we want to know everything about that person. Father God knows each of us personally. Psalm 139 reads that Father God knew us before we were formed. The very hairs of our head are numbered and written in a book. He watched over us in our mother's womb. He is present in our lives wherever we go. Unconditional Love: God's love is everlasting. There is no sin God will not forgive. God tells us He will never leave us nor forsake us. Our names are written on the palms of God's hands. Now that's love! Friends, God is not a distance, mean angry God with His children! Yes, there are consequences for our wrongful actions, but they are designed to help us to mature in our walk with the LORD. God is not a man that He would lie, when He forgives our sins, they are separated from Him as far as the east is from the west and buried into the depths of the sea. If God doesn't remember our sins, why are you. Only satan brings our past sins to remembrance because he wants us to doubt God's grace of forgiveness. Friends, God laid down His life for us (Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren 1 John 3:16 KJV). Friends, Jesus didn't come to earth to condemn the world. No! He came to make a way for mankind to be set free from the bondage satan had on mankind. If God had wanted to punish people He would have immediately killed Adam and Eve, whereby none of us would be here today. Instead, His LOVE for us compelled Him to rescue us through His death on the Cross. Jesus' death and resurrection offers all that accept Him into their heart eternal life. Today I encourage you to rebuke the lying spirit of satan and chose to believe TRUTH - you are LOVED. Eternal lie is far better than eternal damnation. Some of us have walked in defeat for so long that we have come to believe a victorious lifestyle is beyond our reach. But, Isaiah tells us something different! He penned a scripture that tells us God is doing a new thing in our lives NOW, not yesterday or tomorrow but NOW! We need to develop a vision of victory! We need to quit focusing on our problems and focus on the One who is working out all things for the good of those who love Him. God doesn't promise us a life without trials, but He does promise to deliver us from them. So, no matter what is going on in your life now, know that Father God wants to do a new thing in you, but it takes your participation. By faith we need to believe God is able, nothing is impossible with God. God sees great potential in each of His children. He has already planted the seed of purpose/calling in you! Don't you feel the tugging at your heart. Defeat is our enemy! Destroy the enemy by joining Father God envisioning the new thing He is doing in you through spiritual healing. What are you struggling with today? Financial problems, marital problems, employment problems, etc.? No matter how big or small the problem you are challenged with, know that God has not disappeared! Many years ago, as a single parent, I struggled with not having enough money to make ends meet. After a couple of years of juggling Peter to pay Paul, I found myself in major debt. This crisis left me discouraged and angry with myself for accumulating this mountain of debt. One day while doing my devotions, I stumbled upon today's scripture. The words be "strong and courageous be not afraid God goes with you" jumped off the page of my book and ignited my heart with peace. This peace that ignited my heart gave me the courage it needed to invite God into my situation and to seek His help for my mountain of debt. Knowing God was with me in the bad time was my strength to face my struggles. God was faithful! As I put my trust in His strength, He supernaturally made a way for me to pay off my mountain of debt. So, I encourage you today, whatever your struggle know that God is waiting for you to invite Him into your circumstances! Become confident in your heart knowing that God is with you in the good times and in the bad times. He wants to help you to live life victoriously. So, be strong and courageous knowing God is always near, so you have nothing to fear! "Sing Unto The LORD" As I was dressing today, I found a pair of character socks in my sock draw with the inscription the "Game of Life." These socks took me back to my past as a little girl. My sisters and I spent many hours playing board games, and the one we played the most was the "Game of Life." With this game each player had a car with holes on the top to place pegs for chances in life we encountered as we traveled along the board’s road of life.
As a child playing the Game of Life was fun winning an imaginery spouse, compliant children, multiple houses including a summer home, amazing vacations, and bank accounts with six figure incomes. Playing the Game of Life as a child taking many chances for a life of plenty or a life of lack is just what it is - a game! We live in a real world that is not one of chance, even though some may think life is a game of chance. One chance we don’t want to play with is eternal life. When asked the question, "if you die tonight, where will you spent eternity? What would be your answer be?" I asked this question to an 89 year old and she said "I don't know, I have some doubts!" I asked about her doubts, but she refused to tell me! I shared with her what Jesus did on the Cross by shedding His blood for mankind and taking all our sins on His body to redeem us from the penalty of our sins. This act of love offers salvation to whosoever will believe in Jesus and His redemption work on the Cross. Did this 89-year old accept Jesus as her Savior? No, but the seed was planted. Friends, we aren't promised a tomorrow, and life on earth is very short, so don't play the "Game of Life" with your life. If you die tonight, where will you spend eternity? Heaven or hell? If you have doubts, you can erase those doubts by praying the sinner’s prayer below and be certain of your eternity. What Must I Do To Be Saved? Believe in Jesus and pray the "sinner's prayer" (Romans 10:9-10): Dear Jesus, I come to you today as a lost sinner. I am asking that you save my soul and cleanse me from all sin. I know that I need help and that I can't save myself. I believe that you are the Son of God. Good question I thought. Now how do I answer in a way he will understand! Planting and gardening immediately came to mind! Yes, I thought, Jesus talks a lot about plants and trees in the New Testament, and in the Old Testament it is recorded that all things begin with a seed, even human life begins with a seed.
As we began our journey discovering "how things grow" we made our first stop in Genesis 1:12 "And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good." We learned all grass and vegetation is reproduced from itself by a tiny seed. His reply "that is so cool!" As we continued our journey of discovery in the first 3 chapters of the Book of Genesis, it is recorded that all animal life, fowls of the air, and sea life creatures in verses 20-25 were initially created by God. He then blessed them to multiply and to procreate with seed of their own kind. God then creates human beings in His image. He blessed them to multiply by replenishing the earth with seed of their kind. God tells humans: "....Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” (Genesis 1:29 KJV). My grandson was fascinated with these facts learning that all physical life (what we see) grows from a tiny seed, and that God is the Creator of all life. However, through our research we also learned there are spiritual seeds that when planted can produce a harvest. In Luke 6:43-45 we have Jesus speaking of man as being like a tree, producing from their heart either good fruit or bad fruit. What does this mean? Let's look at Proverbs 18:21 for a clue: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Here we learn that every word we speak into the atmosphere are living seeds proceeding from our hearts. These seeds have power to produce life (good fruit) or death (bad fruit) into the lives of others and self. Jesus says in Matthew 7:15-20 "every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits.” What are the spiritual actions of a tree producing good vs. bad fruit? A good tree produces: Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." This list is one of a transformed man's heart producing "good fruit" for the kingdom of God, which is fruit that will remain. A bad tree produces: Galatians 5:19-21 (ESV) "Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." This is a list of bad seeds being produced from a man's heart. And, Matthew 7:16 reveals to the reader that they can easily recognize a person's intent and motives of their heart by the fruit they bear through their actions. As my grandson and I concluded our research, we learned everything is reproduced by a seed, that our tongue is powerful, and all have a purpose. Our purpose is to produce "life" with "good fruit" that will remain into eternity. We should speak life and not death to others. Words of life spoken to others are encouraging and healing to their spirit man, whereas negative speaking or lying to others will wound their soul. How does one continue to produce good fruit? John 15:1-27 (ESV) is our answer “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” Friends, cling to Jesus and allow Him to transform you into a tree that produces “good fruit” that will remain. Christians live in two worlds but have to learn to live in one world only. Each world has its own moral value standards. Genuine Christians have to make a choice as to which moral value standard they chose to live by! Those of the world (satan), or do you choose the moral values that come from the Kingdom of God. This can be difficult, especially in light of what's occurring in today's world. It is easy to choose the world's ways, after all, we have been born into this world system and cultured for this environment. On the other hand, becoming a "born again Christian" choosing God's moral values over the world brings persecution. This has been proven true since the creation of Adam and Eve. Satan will do anything to destroy God's children, he hates God so he Believers! The Apostles and Prophets were persecuted and martyred for refusing to live by the world's values. Kim Davis, a Kentucky Clerk, was persecuted for refusing to sign a marriage license for a same sex couple. Pennsylvania Rep. Stephanie Borowicz was persecuted for using the name of Jesus too many times while praying at an installation for a new electee. Genuine Christian's must take a stand for the truth or they will be deceived like Eve, believing a lie! Christian's have a right to live life according to God's moral values, but unfortunately our moral values offend the world. Believers have an awesome gift from Father God a gift that unbelievers will never know! We have the wonderful gift of Holy Spirit dwelling within us for guidance, protection and comfort. When we commit to stay on the “straight and narrow path,” Holy Spirit will fight our battles. Psalm 105 gives us a great example of what happens when unbelievers attack the people of God. Friends, God will defend His people. I love the verse that reads“..touch not mind anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” God means what He says and say what He means. As long as we are in right fellowship with Father God, we have nothing or no one to fear. We are protected! Written by Georgetta Head
"How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings." (Psalm 36:7 KJV) What do you put your trust in? Your money? Your job? Or is your trust in man and their inability to solve the world's dilemma brought on due to man's rejection of God Almighty? Friends, we are living in troubled times that has brought about much confusion and unusual new norms of lifestyles. So, the answer for peace and safety doesn't lie within man, our answer for peace and safety is found only within God Almighty. Psalm 37:7 reveals to the reader that God is full of "lovingkindness." The Hebrew dictionary defines "loving-kindness" as: Chesed. Like many Hebrew words, Chesed does not translate precisely into English. The word means simply “kindness.” Often translated as “loving-kindness,” chesed means giving oneself fully with love and compassion. In other words, Holy Spirit is describing Father God’s character as one who has fully committed Himself to be a God full of love and compassion toward His children. Father God has manifested His love and compassion the Psalmist in the verse of scripture above and he wants us to know that we too can find assurance and safety hiding under the shadow of God’s wings. When I was a single parent, raising three children, times were very difficult financially and I encountered many adversities at my place of employment. When I called upon Father for help, He would rescue me. The rescue wasn’t always the way I envisioned, but Father’s always knows best. As I learned to hid under the safety of the shadow of Father’s wings, I found rest and peace in the LORD to endure. I learned experientially that putting my trust in God is more excellent than seeking man’s wisdom or help. What troubles or concerns are weighing you down? Are world events taking your peace? Are you struggling with financial problems? Are you experiencing marital problems? Worried about your health? No matter the problem, Father God is able! Father God’s “lovingkindness” is inviting you today to rest from your heavy burdens and from the troubles of this world. He is calling you to take refuge under the shadow of His wings. Friends, stop for a moment and imagine yourself running under the shadow of Father God’s wings, resting in His shadow without the burdens of this world and casting on your cares upon Him as you “rest” under the shadow of God’s wings. Now that’s what I call “peace” and “safety.” Today, choose to trust in the shadow of God’s wings instead of your circumstances or man’s wisdom. |
